Fontbonne Softball Extends Winning Streak to Five Wins in a Row

Game 1 Breakdown
Fontbonne's bats got a workout tonight. Game one started off with an Abby Alonzo homerun, driving in Alaina Hotop and Allysa Ibarra. Sam Foppe singled to left field and Gracie Morris scored on the play. Griffins take the lead in the bottom of the first, 4-0.
In the bottom of the second, Alaina Hotop earned an RBI with a single to center field, scoring Allysa Ibarra. Gracie Morris also tallied up an RBI on a single to right field, scoring Hotop. Sam Foppe reached on an error by the shortstop and Abby Alonzo scored on the play. Ellie Bartlett singled to left field, scoring Morris. Courtney Dingley singled to right field, bringing around Foppe. The Griffins added five more runs in the bottom of the second, 9-0.
The Panthers strung together some hits to jump on the board in the top of the third, 9-2.
In the bottom of the fourth, Courtney Dingley reached on an error but managed to bring home Sam Foppe on the play. Kassidy Chrisco singled to third base, driving in Dingley. Michaela Mason reached on an error, which brought Chrisco around to score. Abby Alonzo singled to second base, scoring Lilly Jones. Maddie Holtmeyer singled to left field, scoring Michaela Mason. Grace Morris drove one through the left side, bringing around Alonzo to score. Sam Foppe singled and Holtmeyer scored on the play. Kassidy Chrisco hit one to the left side and was able to bring Hannah Miener in to score. Lilly Jones singled to first base, bringing in Courtney Dingley. The fourth inning proved to be the toughest for the Panthers as the Griffins racked up ten runs, 19-2.

Game 2 Breakdown
In the bottom of the first, Hannah Miener grounded out to shortstop but Kassidy Chrisco was able to score on the play. Abby Richmond reached on an error by right field, scoring Lilly Jones. Fontbonne takes the lead early, 2-0.
The Griffins added to their lead in the bottom of the second inning with a Courtney Dingley single to right field, scoring Maddie Holtmeyer. Kassidy Chrisco singled to center field , driving in Dingley. Hannah Miener singled to short, scoring Lexi Becker on the play. Alaina Hotop singled to left field, bringing home Chrisco. Grace Paez got in on the action with a single to second base, scoring Miener. Maddie Holtmeyer reached on an error by the pitcher, which brought around Hotop to score. Courtney Dingley walked, advancing the runners and scoring Abby Richmond. The Griffins extend their lead to 9-0.
Fontbonne didn't score again until the bottom of the fourth. Lexi Becker singled to center field, earning two RBIs as Grace Paez and Sam Foppe crossed the plate. Lilly Jones singled to the shortstop, driving in Courtney Dingley. Hannah Miener singled to left field, racking up two RBIs with Kassidy Chrisco and Lexi Becker scoring on the play. Alaina Hotop had a big shot to left center and was able to leg it out to make it a double and scoring Lilly Jones. Hotop then scored when Abby Richmond reached on an error by third. Griffins rack up 16 unanswered runs to win game two of the series, 16-0.
Three Fontbonne pitchers teamed up to hold the Panthers scoreless in game two. Abby Richmond pitched two innings and had 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. Sam Foppe earned the win with two innings pitched with 1 hit, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. Hailey Kutz closed the game with 1 inning pitched and three strikeouts.
