Women's basketball downed by Westminster on Wednesday

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team dropped a 66-61 decision against Westminster in H.J. Long Gymnasium on Wednesday night. The Panthers trailed early in the game, and their comeback efforts proved futile in the end as they dropped the contest.

Greenville trailed 25-11 after the first quarter and 36-23 at halftime.

In the third quarter, GU pulled the score to 47-42, and both teams posted an even 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Madelyn Stephen finished the game as GU's top scorer with 14 points, and Carolina Hoffman posted 12 points. Stephen chipped in a team-high four assists and a blocked shot.

Natalie Iberg drew the start and brought energy to the team as she provided eight points, seven rebounds, and two steals.

Ally Cantrill, Savana Powell-Goodman, and Emily Reinneck also had two steals.

The Panthers (15-7, 8-3 SLIAC) will play Blackburn at home on Saturday at 1 p.m. Senior day festivities will begin at 12:45 p.m.
