2022-23 Golf Players of the Week

Justin McCoy, Webster University

McCoy picked up his second tournament win, shooting a 36-hole score of 143. The junior carded an opening round 69 and won the event by one stroke, finishing one under par. 

James Johnson, Lake Forest College

In a field of 212 golfers, Johnson tied for 28th place at the Illinois Wesleyan Invite. He shot rounds of 78 and 73, moving up 64 spots in the final round thanks to four birdies. The Foresters finished tied for 6th in the 37-team event. 

Jack Dwyer, Lake Forest College

Dwyer picks up this week's award after a 3rd place finish at the Fighting Scot Invite. The senior carded a two-round 147, tying for 3rd overall. He had a low round of 73 and finished with eight birdies at the event. The Foresters took 1st in the team scoring, shooting a school record two-round low 600. 

Cody McKinney, Fontbonne University

McKinney claims the weekly award after a top-five showing at the Great Lakes Invitational. The junior carded a 75, finishing tied for 4th in a field of 52 golfers. He finished five over par, finishing four strokes behind the winner. The Griffins finished 7th as a team with a 328.

Nolan Keeler, Spalding University

Keeler wins his second weekly award this season after tying for 25th at the Barton Intercollegiate. The junior finished with a three-round score of 230 with a low round of 74 in the third round. He finished the event with eight birdies and one eagle.

Keeler led the Golden Eagles to a 1st place finish at the SU Alabama Invasion. The junior carded a two-round 148, recording the 5th win of his career and first this season. This is Spalding's second consecutive tournament win, dating back to the fall.

Jan Antonin Wdowka, Webster University

Wdowka closes out the fall golf season with his second weekly award this year. The freshman finished 6th in a field of 69 golfers at the Wittenburg Classic. Wdowka averaged 75.0 strokes over three rounds with a low round of 72. He finished 9 over par for the event with the Gorloks finishing 8th as a team. 

Cody McKinney, Fontbonne University

McKinney tied for 8th place in the Cougar Classic, shooting a two-round score of 143. He carded a 72 in the opening round and closed the event with a 71; tying for his lowest round this fall. The field consisted of 58 players and he finished one over par. 

Jarrett James, Illinois College

James earns his second weekly award this season after carding a two-round 146 at the Midwest Regional. The sophomore shot a 75 in the opening round before cutting off four strokes in the final round. He finished 5th individually while helping the Blueboys to a 5th place showing.

The junior carded back-to-back 70s last weekend, competing in the Rhodes Fall Invitational; finishing with a three-round score of 220 and finishing 12th individually. McCoy opened the tournament with his rounds of 70 and helped the Gorloks to a 9th-place team finish. On the weekend he had 10 birdies and 31 pars.

Jarrett James, Illinois College

James put together his best round this fall, shooting a 70 at the SLIAC Preview. He bested a field of 54 players that included two other conference programs. James carded a two-under 70, recording five birdies during the round. With James leading the way the Blueboys finished 1st out of 10 teams in the event with a team score of 291.

Jan Antonin Wdowka, Webster University

Wdowka, a freshman from the Czech Republic, took 2nd place at the Transylvania Fall Invitational. He carded a three-round 211 that included a pair of rounds with a 69. He totaled 13 birdies and an eagle during the event, helping the Gorloks to a 9th-place team finish in a field of 19 teams.
