Webster Pair Finish in Top Five

The Webster University men's golf team kicked off their season over the last two days when they traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, to compete in the Transylvania Fall Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky. The Gorloks took ninth place out of 19 teams as they finished with a three-round score of 896 (297-303-296, +32). Greensboro (N.C.) College won the event as they finished with a team score of 863 (-1).

The Gorloks had two players finish in the top five in the tournament including Jan Antonin Wdówka who finished second and Justin McCoy who finished fifth. Wdówka had a fantastic collegiate debut as he finished with a three-round score of 211 (69-73-69, -5) including two rounds under 70. He finished the tournament with 13 total birdies and 33 total pars. McCoy also had a great tournament as he finished with a three-round score of 214 (70-75-69, -2). He also finished with 33 pars for the tournament to go along with 10 birdies. In addition, McCoy and Wdówka each finished with one eagle for the tournament.

Austen VelazquezJosh Hayes, and Cody Surma also competed for the Gorloks. Velazquez finished in a tie for 55th as he shot a three-round score of 232 (78-77-77, +16). Hayes finished in a tie for 74th after shooting a 239 (80-78-81, +23) through 54 holes. Lastly, Surma finished in a tie for 81st with a 244 (84-78-82, +28).

Andreas Huber from Greensboro College won the 99 competitor event with a three-round score of 210 (71-71-68, -6).

The Gorloks will return to the course on Sunday, September 18th, and Monday, September 19th when they travel to Tunica, Mississippi, to compete in the Rhodes Fall Classic at Tunica National Golf Club.
