Knox Takes Fighting Scot Title

The Prairie Fire men's golf team came from five strokes back to win the Fighting Scot Invite hosted by Monmouth on Sunday.

Knox (604) made up the five strokes and more by soundly defeating Iowa Wesleyan (611) by seven strokes. The Prairie Fire's other team also placed third (613) to nearly overtake the Tigers after a first round deficit of 15 strokes.

Gabe Newman also took home medalist honors with a two-round score of 147. Jake Schabes placed fourth (150) and Pranav Nandakumar (151) and Hunter Webb (151) tied for fifth.

"Gabe was impressive this weekend," said head coach KC Harding. "He really stepped up and the whole team bounced back in a huge way to finish with two very solid scores. If we play like today more often, we will have a very good season. We are certainly capable of posting scores like this on a consistent basis."
