Gomez, Brannon, Sanchez Top Award Winners

Gomez, Brannon, Sanchez Top Award Winners

Daniel Gomez joins an elite list of players in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference history by becoming just the third player in program history to win three consecutive SLIAC Player of the Year awards. Gomez, a senior, recorded 28 total wins this spring including 15 during singles play. He played #1 singles and #1 doubles for Principia and went undefeated in conference play in singles and 2-1 in doubles. He puts his name alongside former Panthers Michael LeVan and Jason Wissman as three-time Player of the Year award winners.

This year's SLIAC Newcomer of the Year is Andres Sanchez, from Greenville University. The freshman played at the #1 spot for Greenville most of the year, totaling 15 singles wins. He also had 15 doubles wins and finished tied for 5th in the conference in singles win percentage. He is the third Panther in a row to win the award.

The SLIAC Coach of the Year goes to Brett Brannon from Greenville University. Brannon led Greenville to a 19-2 overall record, going undefeated in conference play and securing the program's first-ever SLIAC Tournament title. Later this week, the Panthers will be making the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Division III national tournament. This marks the fourth time Brannon has been named the SLIAC Coach of the Year in his career.

In addition, Webster University was selected for the SLIAC Men's Tennis Team Sportsmanship award.
