Runners Line Up for Championship

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship will be held this weekend in Litchfield, Illinois. All eight conference members will be represented as teams compete for the 2021 Men's and Women's titles. The Greenville women's program captured the championship last season and will be seeking its 18th in program history when the starting gun goes off at 10:30 a.m. The Greenville men's team has won five consecutive SLIAC Championships and will start at 11:15 a.m.

Blackburn College BEAVERS
 

Men's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS 
SLIAC Titles: 0

Quentin Smith is the top runner for the Beavers, having finished as the team's top finisher in each of his last meets. Smith has a top time of 33:15 this season and finished 22nd at last year's championship. Locke Hord, Will Killion, Brayan Roybal, and Dakarai White complete the lineup as the Beavers.

SLIAC Titles: 0

The Beavers will field a full lineup at the championship for the first time since 2015. Olivia Leemon comes into the weekend with two team top finishes and a team-best time of 29:38 in the 6K this fall. Hanna Box captured the other top finish for the Beavers this season while Taliyah Davis, Cloe Messer, Elizabeth Morris, and Danielle Vogel round out the lineup.

 

Eureka College RED DEVILS  
 

Men's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS
SLIAC Titles: 0

After the return of the program last fall the Red Devils will bring in a lineup of Javy Garcia, Collin Lister, Bryce Logsdon, Nick Rulevish, and Hayden Skaggs. Garcia has been the team's top runner in three of his team's five races this fall with Rulevish and Lister grabbing the other top spots. Garcia holds a top time of 31:32 this fall and placed 23rd at last year's championship.

 

Women's Team

SLIAC Titles: 0

The Red Devils boast a roster with six runners with Odessa Grove leading the way. Grove, a freshman, has paced the team in every race this season; recording a top time of 32:13. Riley Reuter will help push her teammate as will Isabella Carbajal. 

 

Fontbonne University GRIFFINS
 

Men's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS 
SLIAC Titles: 2

The Griffins are a balanced team with all five runners this season putting together times within four minutes of each other this season. Keyonn Hall-Baker has four team top finishes with a best time of 34:45 this season. 

 

Women's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS
SLIAC Titles: 0

The Griffins lone women's runner is Desiree Brooks. The senior finished 11th at last year's championship, the highest finish in her career. She completed her lone 6K race this fall in a time of 27:17.

Greenville University PANTHERS
 

Men's Team
2020-21 Finish: 1st
SLIAC Titles: 17

The Panthers will be seeking to extend its championship run to a 6th consecutive title, the longest since the program won 10 in a row at the turn of the century. Greenville is led by reigning Runner of the Year Gianni Estrada, who has been the first Panther to cross the line in every race this season. His time of 25:57 this season is best in the SLIAC and is looking to become the 9th back-to-back SLIAC individual champion. Other runners to watch are Kaleb Carlson and Joe Gomez, who have each run below 27-minutes this season.

 

Women's Team
2020-21 Finish: 1st
SLIAC Titles: 17

The Greenville women will be looking to repeat as champions for the first time since a run of six straight from 2004-09. Three runners will lead the charge, starting with Gretchen Carie, who has a team-best time of 25:18 in the 6K this season. Hannah Williams has a top time of 25:34 this fall while Sedina Logan turned in a time of 25:42 at the start of the month. Olivia Mansfield, who finished 4th last year, should also be near the top of the field.

Principia College PANTHERS
 

Men's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS
SLIAC Titles: 5

The Panthers once again will field a full team with Boone Steele leading the way. Steele was the lone runner last year, finishing 20th, and has a top team time of 30:20 this season. The rest of the lineup features Nathan Babcock, Tobin Blair, Charles Gatobu, Elliott Matthiesen, and Donbosco Ngeso; who have all run in the 33-minute range.

 

 

Women's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS
SLIAC Titles: 5

Principia is paced by Emme Schaefer, who has been the first Panther across the line in all four races this fall. She is a two-time All-Conference runner, missing last season, and has a top time of 24:12 this fall and could be the first Panther individual champion since 2014. Geena Richards has finished 2nd behind Schaefer in all four races and has a top time of 27:33.

Spalding University GOLDEN EAGLES
 

Men's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS
SLIAC Titles: 3

The Golden Eagles are continuing to build its program back up under head coach Logan Wells and bring three runners into championship weekend. Freshman Noah McClellan has immediately taken charge, running to top team finishes in all four meets this fall. He has recorded a top time of 27:48 with Peter McGowan not far off at 27:56. Jack Vinson placed 4th at last year's championship and will look to repeat All-Conference honors.

SLIAC Titles: 1

Despite having just two runners on the squad this fall, Victoria Shedron could make it a memorable weekend for the Golden Eagles. She recorded back-to-back weekends of 25-minute runs in the 6K this season and could compete at the top this weekend. Lexie Barthmaier has a top time of 29:16 this season.

 

Webster University GORLOKS
 

Men's Team
2020-21 Finish: 2nd
SLIAC Titles: 0

The Gorloks are led by Nathan Freyling, last year's runner-up at the championships. Freyling has four team top finishes, recording a best time of 26:59 this fall. Kaelin Triggs should also be among the first runners to cross while Sam Baker has dropped his time in each successive week this season.

 

Women's Team
2020-21 Finish: 2nd
SLIAC Titles: 4

Danielle Schultz will look to defend her individual title this weekend but may have some competition from within her own team. Schultz has a top time of 24:27 this fall while teammate Kyanne Williams recorded a 23:46 time in the same race at the beginning of the month. 

Westminster College BLUE JAYS
 

Men's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS
SLIAC Titles: 0

Lane Martin and Jacob Marshall will represent the Blue Jays this weekend. Martin has a top time of 31:44 this fall while Marshall ran a best time of 32:47. 

 

Women's Team
2020-21 Finish: NTS
SLIAC Titles: 1

Moenaisa Sidique put together a time of 22:54 in her lone race this fall, a 5K meet, while her teammate Tristan Folkner finished in 26:36.
