Dozen Earn Softball Academic All-District Honors

A total of 12 players from SLIAC softball have been named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators. 

Fontbonne University was represented by Lilly Jones and Hailey  Kutz. Spalding University had five players earn honors: Madison Loechle, Grayce Marcum, Jessica Tucker, Bella Velez, and Dawn Wilson. Webster University also placed five players on the team: Jaelin Holdaway, Sidney Holtz, Kaelyn Kearney, Paige Thomas, and Reese Waggoner.

The 2023 Academic All-District® teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
 
In order to be nominated for the award, student-athletes must have completed at least one full year at the university, they must have above a 3.5 GPA, they must be a starter or key reserve, and they must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games. To qualify as a pitcher, they must pitch in at least 10.0 innings.
