Four Earn NFCA All-Region

Four from the SLIAC have earned NFCA All-Region honors for the 2023 season. Receiving recognition were Grayce Marcum and Bella Velez from Spalding University as well as Kaley Adzick and Jaelin Holdaway from Webster University. 

Both Golden Eagles earned Second Team All-Region honors, Marcum as an outfielder and Velez as a third baseman. Marcum hit .377 this season with 7 home runs and 44 RBI. She led all SLIAC players with 111 total bases, scoring 40 runs, and leading Division III in triples with 12; while setting a new conference record in the process. Velez batted .390 with 9 home runs and 48 runs batted in; leading the conference in both home runs and RBI. She had 53 hits including 10 doubles and finished with a .676 slugging percentage. Both players had also previously been named First Team All-Conference.

Holdway, a junior, earned Second Team honors as a utility player. Holdaway hit a team-high .450 this season with 48 runs scored, three home runs, and 34 RBI while posting a .478 on-base percentage and a .689 slugging percentage. She set Webster single-season records for both hits (68) and doubles (19). She finished the year as the team leader in batting average, slugging percentage, runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, and total bases. Holdaway was named First Team All-Conference.

Adzick, a freshman, picked up Third Team honors as a utility player/pitcher. At the plate, Adzick hit .419 with 39 runs scored, 57 hits, seven doubles, three home runs, and 31 RBI. In the circle, Adzick made 20 appearances including 16 starts. She recorded a 9-8 overall record with a 3.70 ERA and 50 strikeouts. Adzick was also named Second Team All-Conference.
