Griffins Tie Conference Mark With 8th Straight Shutout

The Fontbonne University women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win over rival Webster University on Saturday and in doing so tied the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record for consecutive shutouts. The shutout win is the Griffins' eighth consecutive such win, tying the conference record set by Webster in the 2001 season.

Fontbonne has outscored opponents 28-0 during their eight-game winning streak. On Saturday all they needed was one goal. That goal came off the foot of Krystal Kohenskey, her 6th of the season, at the 71-minute mark of the game. Bianca Cortez-Perez set the goal up. Fontbonne outshot Webster 16-10 in the game with keeper Mary Beers stopping both shots on goal she faced.

Fontbonne improves to 8-0 in conference play this season, extending their conference unbeaten streak to 39 regular season games. Fontbonne is 8-1-2 overall this season. They host Spalding University on Thursday, October 13 at 6 p.m.
