Favorites Advance to Semifinals

Both higher seeds in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer tournament picked up wins and move on to Thursday's semifinal round. 

Quarterfinal - #3 Greenville defeated #6 Principia, 6-0 BOX SCORE
For the third straight year, Greenville picked up a win in the quarterfinal round. The Panthers started the scoring when Jen De Leon De Leon tallied her 12th of the season in the 9th minute. Just 1:22 later it was Kiera Coleman finding the back of the net to put Greenville up 2-0. Greenville broke the game open with four second-half goals, ending the game with six different goal scorers. Greenville outshot Principia 20-5 in the game. 

Quarterfinal - #4 Westminster defeated #5 Spalding, 1-0 BOX SCORE
It was a defensive matchup between Westminster and Spalding with the Blue Jays coming away a 1-0 winner. The two teams combined for just 12 shots in the game and only eight on net. The only goal of the game was in the 18th minute when Lauren Halamicek scored unassisted. The Blue Jays defense shut down the Golden Eagles, limiting them to only four shots in the game. Megan Davidson stopped the only two shots she faced while Jordan Schneider made four saves in the loss.

What's Next
The 2022 SLIAC Women's Soccer tournament continues on Thursday with the semifinal round. #1 Fontbonne will host #4 Westminster at 6 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo. The other semifinal game puts #2 Webster against #3 Greenville at 5 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
