Kohenskey and Beers Headline Awards List
After a third consecutive undefeated conference season, the Fontbonne University Griffins walk away with three of the top awards in Women's Soccer. The Griffins are home to the 2022 SLIAC Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Coach of the Year; marking the second time in three years the program has received all three awards in the same season.
Krystal Kohenskey caps off her collegiate career as the league's Offensive Player of the Year. Kohenskey led the league in nearly every category this fall; recording 14 goals and 15 assists for 43 points with 106 shots and 5 game-winning goals. The senior forward had a goal in 9 of 14 conference games and points in all but one. This marks the third consecutive year the Griffins have won the award with Molly Kovarik winning the previous two.
For the second time in her career, Mary Beers is the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year. Beers put together a record-setting season for the Griffins in net. A senior, Beers played 1170 minutes of action and finished with a .952 save percentage in conference play. She recorded 11 shutouts and had a 0.08 goals-against average. Beers set the conference record with 1141:38 of consecutive scoreless minutes in net and was part of a Griffin defense that recorded a conference record 12 consecutive shutouts.
Dylan Cassidy was named the Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading Fontbonne to a perfect 14-0 conference mark this season, the most SLIAC wins in a season in program history and tying for the most by any team in conference history. Fontbonne sits at 14-1-2 overall this year and completed a third consecutive undefeated conference season; going 35-0-2 combined over that span.
This year's SLIAC Newcomer of the Year is Westminster College freshman Hannah Shylanski. The forward played in 10 conference games this season, tallying 5 goals and 1 assist for 11 total points. She finished with 31 shots and a .161 shot percentage while recording two game-winning goals. She is just the third Blue Jay in program history to win the award and the first since 2004.
Principia College was voted as the Team Sportsmanship Award recipient for exemplifying sportsmanship throughout the season.
