Estrada and Williams Qualify for Nationals

A pair of runners from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has qualified to run at this year's NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.

Kyanne Williams and Gianna Estrada will represent the SLIAC at this year's championships, marking the first time since 2012 that the conference will have runners in both the men's and women's championship field and only the third time in conference history.

Williams, a senior at Webster University, finished 18th at last weekend's regional race, becoming just the second Gorlok in program history to earn All-Region honors. She finished with a personal best time of 22:37 in the 6K race. This is the second straight year a Gorlok has qualified for nationals, joining last year's teammate; Danielle Schultz.

Estrada, a sophomore at Greenville University, finished 21st at the men's Midwest regional last weekend with a time of 25:33. He becomes the fifth runner in Panther program history to qualify for nationals, the first since Martsolf in 2005. He is also the first SLIAC men's runner to qualify for nationals since 2017 when three Principia runners qualified.

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams, and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held this weekend. The top seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team were selected to participate in the championship. The 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will take place on Saturday, November 19th at Forest Akers East Golf Course in Lansing Michigan. The women's race will start at 11 a.m. EST while the men's race will start at noon.
