SLIAC Announces Diamond Sports Baseball Players of the Week for Week of May 2-8
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the Diamond Sports baseball players of the week for the week of May 2-8.
BASEBALL - PITCHER
Eureka College's Bryan Meyer, a junior
from Fairview, Ill. (Spoon River Valley), has been named the
Diamond Sports SLIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of
May 2-8.
Meyer, a 6-0 right-handed pitcher, earned his second career complete game victory with a 3-2 victory versus Spalding University. In 7.0 innings of work and 105 pitches thrown he allowed just five hits, two walks and two earned runs, while tallying six strikeouts.
BASEBALL - HITTER
Webster University's Tom Henke, a junior
from Chesterfield, Mo. (Lindbergh), has been named the Diamond
Sports SLIAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of May
2-8.
Henke, a 6-0 first baseman, hit .556 at the plate in five games played last week. He was 10-for-18 with seven runs scored, six RBI, two home runs and one double. Henke also had 33 putouts and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage for the week.
Henke recorded four multi-hit games, including 3-for-5 with two RBI in a 9-7 win on the road at Fontbonne University. He ended the week by hitting one home run in both games of a double header with the Griffins. Henke was 1-for-3 in game one, and he went 2-for-4 in the nightcap.
