Former Volleyball & Men's Soccer Student-Athletes to Inducted into SLIAC Hall of Fame

St. Louis, Mo - St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Commissioner, Will Wolper, has announced the Hall of Fame Class of 2012. Highlighting this year's class are two former student-athletes, Fontbonne University's Nicole Moyer and MacMurray College's Pedro Rodriguez.

Moyer was a four-year letter winner for the Griffins volleyball team. She earned All-Conference honors in each of her four years, including Second Team honors as a freshman and sophomore and First Team honors as a junior and senior. Moyer was also named SLIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2001 and SLIAC Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004. In addition to her individual honors, Moyer also helped lead Fontbonne to four consecutive SLIAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. During her four years the Griffins compiled an overall record of 73-34 and 54-2 in the SLIAC.

On the court, Moyer led her team in several statistical categories and still holds two Fontbonne records to this day. She finished her outstanding career with 1,370 kills, which ranks as No. 1 in Griffins history. Moyer tallied a season-high 421 kills as a junior and also had a school record .289 hitting percentage during her senior season.

Rodriguez was a four-year letter winner on the Highlanders men's soccer team from 1990-93. He was named First Team All-SLIAC all four years and also earned SLIAC Player of the Year honors in 1991, 1992 and 1993. In addition to his Conference honors, Rodriguez was named Third Team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in both his junior and senior seasons. Rodriguez also earned All-Region honors all four years.

At the time of his induction into the MacMurray College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, Rodriguez held six school records in men's soccer. He held career records for goals (62) and assists (61), single-season records for assists (23) and points (60), and single-game records for goals (5) and points (15). His 15 points in a single game (vs. Parks on October 6, 1992) still ranks in the Top 10 in NCAA Division III. Rodriguez's time as a Highlander marks the most successful four years in MacMurray men's soccer history, as they posted an overall record of 54-21-5.

Moyer and Rodriguez will be formally inducted into the SLIAC Hall of Fame during the first annual SLIAC Awards and Recognition Banquet, to be held in St. Louis on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Specific information on location and time is forthcoming.

There are 32 members currently in the SLIAC Hall of Fame, consisting of 25 former student-athletes and seven administrators.
