2023 Baseball Players of the Week

Strong delivered 10 runs over four wins for the Golden Eagles last week. He hit .750, going 12-for-16 at the plate, scoring eight times and hitting one home run. The sophomore catcher finished with a .762 on-base percentage and had four multi-hit games including a 4-for-4 performance in the series finale against Blackburn.

Recorded his 8th win of the season, going 6 innings against a Greenville. The sophomore held the Panthers to just three hits, allowing no runs, while striking out 7. He currently leads the SLIAC in both wins and strikeouts.

Mokris powered the Panthers' offense to four double-digit run games last week, all wins. The senior hit .667 with 5 home runs and 16 RBI on the week, recording three multiple-hit games. He had a pair of home runs against both Rose Hulman and Principia. Mokris finished the week with a 2.083 slugging percentage and scored 9 runs.

Picked up a complete game win over Blackburn on Sunday. He struck out 9 batters over his 9 innings of work, limiting the Beavers to just one earned run and three hits. Dunne issued no walks in the 11-2 victory.

A sophomore infielder, Tuttle hit .571 with 1 home run and 8 RBI while scoring 8 times last week. He had hits in all four games, recording three multiple-hit games including a high of three hits in the series opener against Principia. Tuttle finished with a .600 on-base percentage and a 1.214 slugging percentage, recording three triples. 

Kinworthy notched his 7th win of the season, working 7 innings against Blackburn. The sophomore picked up the complete game win, limiting Blackburn to two hits and one run while striking out 13 and walking just one. It marked his second double-digit strikeout game of the season. 

Helm led the Griffins to a series win over Westminster, hitting .538 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in the three games. He had multiple hits in two games including a 5-for-5 performance in the series finale when he scored five times and drove in 5. He finished the week 7-for-13 at the plate with 6 runs scored and a 1.154 slugging percentage.

The junior recorded a win over Eureka, going a full 9 innings in the 8-1 decision. Elges limited his opponent to just four hits and only one unearned run. He struck out 9 batters while walking just one. 

McDowell batted .571 over four games last week, finishing 8-for-14 at the plate while driving in 7 and scoring 4 times. He had hits in all four games including three multi-hit games to close out the week. The sophomore walked once and had two doubles and one triple on the week, finishing with a .857 slugging percentage. 

Collins recorded a complete game win over Eureka, throwing 7 innings and holding the Red Devils to just one run. The senior struck out 8, walking just 1, and allowed just three hits in the game. 

Strong delivered nine hits over three games last week, batting .692 while helping the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins. Strong also drove in seven runs and scored twice. He had four doubles and finished with a 1.000 slugging percentage. The sophomore had three hits in all three games and twice had multiple RBI games. 

Garard picked up a win in a 4-2 game over Principia. The senior worked a complete game, going 9 innings and striking out 14 while allowing no walks. He scattered six hits, allowing one earned run. 

Mokris batted .519 with 1 home run and 9 RBI over seven games for the Panthers last week. He added five runs scored and two doubles and helped the Panthers to three wins. The senior recorded hits in all seven games including three three-hit games. On the week he had a .515 on-base percentage and a .704 slugging percentage. 

The sophomore hurler picked up a win in his conference opener, going 7 innings against Eureka. Kinworthy struck out a career-high 15 batters in the game, holding the Red Devils to no runs and just three hits while walking none. 

Purschke continues his torrid pace at the plate, winning his second straight award. The senior hit .471 last week, driving in 12 over five games. He had hits in every game last week including two multi-hit games with a high of three against Marian and twice drove in four in a game. He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak.

Archer notched his first collegiate win, going 9 scoreless innings against Grinnell. He allowed just one hit, walking none, and striking out nine. 

The senior infielder batted .400 with 5 RBI in two games last week, helping the Griffins to one win. Purschke went 1-for-5 in the first game of the week, driving in one run. He followed by going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBI. On the week he finished 4-for-10 at the plate with a .700 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage.

Dunne was nearly hittable in two outings last week, compiling 18 strikeouts over 7 innings while allowing just two hits. In his first appearance, the sophomore worked three scoreless innings of relief, striking out seven and picking up the win. He followed by throwing four innings in a start, striking out 11. He finished the week with a 1.29 earned-run average.

Whitehead hit .538 over the Blue Jays' opening week, helping them to a pair of wins. He finished with seven hits, three runs batted in, and three stolen bases in three games. The junior shortstop picked up multiple hits in all three games with a high of three against Millsaps. He also finished with a perfect fielding percentage on 11 chances.

Clark, a junior, started his season with an impressive relief performance against DePauw. He came on in the 3rd inning to work 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out seven to pick up the win. 

Helm started the season by hitting .647 with four runs batted in over the first week of the season. He had hits in all five games including a four-hit performance in game two against Sewanee. Helm finished with a .667 on-base percentage thanks to three walks and scored three times on the week.

The sophomore hurler made two starts last week, finishing with a 3.72 earned-run average. He allowed four earned runs over 9 2/3 innings pitched, striking out 15. Kinworthy struck out seven in a no-decision against Health Sciences and Pharmacy and followed with eight more strikeouts six days later against Sewanee.
