Eureka College SAAC Collects Donations For Eureka Food Pantry

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently hosted a canned food drive as part of "Maroon Madness" at last weekend's basketball doubleheader. The event produced 223 cans of food and $150 for donation to the Eureka Area Food Pantry.

Fans that attended Saturday's games against Spalding received discounted admission with a canned good donation. Concessions, operated by SAAC, were also available for discounted prices. The event was organized by SAAC in conjunction with the Eureka College Communication Club.

"The event was very successful and the food pantry was very much in need of our support," Eureka SAAC President *Dan Bolsen *said. "Events like we had on Saturday are a great way to give back to the community, while increasing attendance and support for our athletic events. A big thank you to the Eureka College Communication Club for its efforts in publicizing the event around campus and throughout the community."

The Eureka SAAC is a committee made up of student-athletes from each varsity program assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.

"The EC SAAC has been fully engaged in the Eureka community and its efforts show its continued support and dedication for helping others," Eureka Director of Athletics Paul
Bryant remarked. "I am very proud of its servant leadership."
