Kendra Schilli (Fontbonne)
Fontbonne University's Kendra Schilli, a sophomore from Perryville, Mo., has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 26-November 1.

Schilli, a 5-6 forward, recorded a hat trick with three goals and six assists in an 11-2 victory versus Eureka College. The six assists breaks the SLIAC record for assists in a single game. The previous record was four assists held by many players.

DEFENSE
Caroline Schmidt (Webster)
Webster University's Caroline Schmidt, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo. (Oakville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 26-November 1.

Schmidt, a 5-6 defender, played in all 270 minutes last week for the Gorloks. She helped her squad to three shutouts, including 5-0 victories versus both Westminster College and Eureka College, and a 9-0 victory versus MacMurray College.

"Caroline's responsibilities have changed since an injury to our starting sweeper in early October," said head coach Luigi Scire. "She was asked to take on a major role in anchoring our defense and has done an excellent job of controlling the defensive unit."

 

Oct 19-25
OFFENSE
Christy Capkovic (Webster)
Webster University's Christy Capkovic, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Mehlville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 19-25. It marks the third time this season that she has earned the honor.

Capkovic, a 5-7 forward, recorded five goals and three assists for a total of 13 points in two games played last week. She had four goals, including the game-winning goal, and two assists in a 9-0 shutout on the road at Spalding University. Capkovic then added one goal and one assist in a 4-2 win versus Greenville College.

 

Oct 19-25
DEFENSE
Lauren Wienecke (Principia)
Principia College's Lauren Wienecke, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla. (Jenks), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 19-25. It marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Wienecke, a 6-0 center back, helped the Panthers to three victories last week. Principia defeated Greenville College, 6-1, Blackburn College, 2-0, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, who was ranked ninth in the NCAA Division III North Region, 3-2.

"[Lauren's] strength in the air, speed, ball control and knowledge of the game really helped prevent forward penetration of [Wisconsin} Whitewater's offense," said head coach Lee Ellis. "Her composure under pressure enabled her to make smart decisions and find her teammates' feet in order for us to keep possession."

 

Oct 12-18
OFFENSE
Mindy Siebert (Greenville)
Greenville College's Mindy Siebert, a freshman from Cape Girardeau, Mo. (Notre Dame), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 12-18. It marks the second time this season that Siebert has earned the honor.

Siebert, a 5-6 forward, recorded four goals and three assists for a total of 11 points in two games played last week. She had two goals in the Panthers 4-0 win versus Westminster College. She then recorded two goals and three assists in a 6-1 victory versus Fontbonne University.

 

Oct 12-18
DEFENSE
Carey Erwin (Principia)
Principia College's Carey Erwin, a senior from Dallas, Texas (The Principia School), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 12-18.

Erwin, a 5-8 right back, played a vital role on Principia's defensive line in helping her squad to two shutouts last week. The Panthers defeated MacMurray College, 6-0, and Spalding University, 6-0, to remain undefeated in conference play.

"As a defensive right back, Carey goes into the attack as she dribbles the ball down in for a cross with her strong right foot," commented head coach Lee Ellis. "Not only is she lethal in the back with her speed, but she's lethal in the attack with her right-footed kick."

OFFENSE
Ashley Jenkins (MacMurray)
MacMurray College's Ashley Jenkins, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo. (Jennings), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 5-11.

Jenkins, a midfielder/forward, had seven goals and two assists in three games played last week. She recorded a hat trick with three goals, including the game winning goal, in a 5-1 non-conference win versus Spalding University. Jenkins added two goals each in a 4-0 shutout versus Lincoln Christian University and a 3-0 shutout versus Finlandia University. She also had the game-winning goal in each of those games.

 

Oct 5-11
DEFENSE
Megan Usherwood (MacMurray)
MacMurray College's Megan Usherwood, a junior from Chatham, Ill. (Chatham Glenwood), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 5-11.

Usherwood, a 5-11 goalkeeper, allowed only one goal in 270:00 minutes in goal last week. She also recorded 41 saves and two shutouts in three games played. She had 18 saves in MacMurray's 5-1 non-conference win over Spalding University. She added 11 saves in a 4-0 shutout versus Lincoln Christian University and 12 saves in a 3-0 shutout versus Finlandia University.

"Megan put in three impressive wins and two shutouts last week," said head coach Jacob Ramos. "She was dominant in the box and gave us the chance to win all three of our games."

OFFENSE
Christy Capkovic (Webster)
Webster University's Christy Capkovic, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Mehlville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4. It marks the second time this season that she has received the honor.

Capkovic, a 5-7 forward, had nine goals, two of which were game-winners, and added one assist for a total of 19 points in two games played last week. She scored three goals, including the game-winning goal, and tallied one assist in a 6-0 victory versus Blackburn College. Capkovic then broke the SLIAC single game record for goals in a game, as she finished with six in the Gorloks' 8-3 win on the road at Fontbonne University. Her single game point total of 12 versus the Griffins also set a new school record at Webster and tied the SLIAC record for points in a single game.

DEFENSE
Julianna Mangelsdorf (Principia)
Principia College's Julianna Mangelsdorf, a freshman from Palmer, Alaska, has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 28 - October 4.

Mangelsdorf, a 5-5 center midfielder, helped lead Principia to two shutouts last week. The Panthers defeated Fontbonne University, 3-0, before winning 6-0 over Eureka College. The Panthers, who have been dealing with some injuries on defense, had to shift players around in their game against Eureka.

"Julianna really stepped up and played a significant role in the center midfield position," said head coach Lee Ellis. "She plays in front of our backline, and we rely on her to stop the forward penetration from the opposing center midfield. She made hard tackles, won 50-50 balls and did a great job in passing to our team after winning the ball."

 

Sep 21-27
OFFENSE
Megan Niederschulte (Webster)
Webster University's Megan Niederschulte, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Pattonville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 21-27. It marks the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Niederschulte, a 5-7 forward, had four goals and one assist for a total of nine points in two games played last week. She had one goal in a 7-0 non-conference win versus Fontbonne University. Niederschulte also recorded her second hat trick of the season with three goals, including the game-winner, and one assist in a 5-0 victory on the road at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

 

Sep 21-27
DEFENSE
Izzy Sherfy (Webster)
Webster University's Izzy Sherfy, a senior from St. Louis, Mo. (Pattonville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 21-27.

Sherfy, a 5-8 defender, anchored a defense that posted two shutouts last week. The Gorloks defeated Fontbonne University, 7-0, and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 5-0.

"[Izzy] played two flawless games," said head coach Luigi Scire. "Her performance against Rose-Hulman in a rain soaked game was outstanding. The tricky field conditions provided a challenge, and her ability to keep the defense organized was a key to the team's success on the defensive front."

Webster has shutout their last four opponents and now stands at 6-1 overall.

OFFENSE
Christy Capkovic (Webster)
Webster University's Christy Capkovic, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Mehlville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 14-20.

Capkovic, a 5-7 forward, recorded three goals, including one game-winning goal, and two assists in two games played last week. She recorded a hat trick with three goals, including the game winner, and one assist in a 6-0 victory versus Central College (Iowa). Capkovic also had the game-winning assist in the Gorloks 1-0 overtime win versus the University of Dubuque.

 

Sep 14-20
DEFENSE
Jessie Schellerup (Webster)
Webster University's Jessie Schellerup, a senior from St. Peters, Mo. (Francis Howell Central), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 14-20.

Schellerup, a 5-7 defender, helped the Gorloks post two shutouts last week by marking the opponent's top forward. She did not allow a shot from Central College's (Iowa) top forward, and versus the University of Dubuque she man-marked their top striker and allowed only two shots.

Webster defeated Central (Iowa) 6-0, before recording a 1-0 overtime victory versus Dubuque.

 

Sep 7-13
OFFENSE
Megan Niederschulte (Webster)
Webster University's Megan Niederschulte, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Pattonville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 7-13.

Niederschulte, a 5-7 forward, recorded four goals, including one game-winning goal in two games played last week. She scored one of two goals in Webster's 4-2 loss to nationally ranked #21 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Niederschulte then recorded a hat trick with three goals, including the game-winner in a 5-2 victory versus Grinnell College.

OFFENSE
Mindy Siebert (Greenville)
Greenville College's Mindy Siebert, a freshman from Cape Girardeau, Mo. (Notre Dame), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 1-6.

Siebert, a 5-7 forward, recorded five goals, one game-winning goal and two assists in three games played last week. She had a hat trick with three goals and one assist in Greenville's season opening win versus Lincoln Christian College. She also had two goals in a 4-0 victory against Bethany College (Kan.) and added one assist in the Panthers 2-1 loss to Millikin University.

 

Sep 1-6
DEFENSE
Lauren Wienecke (Principia)
Principia College's Lauren Wienecke, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla. (Jenks), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 1-6.

Wienecke, a 6-0 defender, was the key central player that stabilized the back line of defense in two victories last week for the Panthers. Principia shutout Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 3-0, and Bethany College (Kan.), 4-0, before losing 2-0 to Millikin University.

"Lauren did a fantastic job recovering for her teammates and slowing the opposing team's penetration," said Principia head coach Lee Ellis. "Her ability to read the play and pick off passes certainly kept the team on top earlier in the week."
