Spalding To Break Ground In Fall On New Athletic Fields

Spalding University formally announced Wednesday their plans to break ground on a $5.5 million athletic complex this fall.
Logan Named 2017 SLIAC Lee McKinney Award Recipient

Alyssa Logan joins an exclusive group as the 2017 recipient of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Lee McKinney Distinguished Service Award. Logan, a women's soccer player from Spalding University, becomes the first conference student-athlete to receive the award since it was first handed out in 2010.
Blackburn Names Sohaila Akhavein Women's Soccer Coach

Blackburn College has named Sohaila Akhavein as their new women’s soccer coach. Akhavein comes to Blackburn from the Oshkosh United Soccer Club in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Collegiate coaching experience includes a stint as an assistant coach at Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin. In 2013, Akhavein helped the Ripon to a program-best 10-7-1 record. Akhavein has also served as the Head Girls Soccer Coach at Oshkosh North High school for eight years.

SLIAC To Induct Second Largest Hall Of Fame Class In 2017

The 2017 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Hall of Fame Class will be the largest since 2007 and includes Rachel Backes, Jeff Borengasser, Christina Day, Ricky Seaman, Katy Meyer, and Crystal Spinner.
Iowa Wesleyan Women's Soccer Under New Leadership

Iowa Wesleyan Athletic Director, Steve Williamson, has announced the hiring of Chris Early as the new head women's soccer coach. Early will replace Nick Stebbins, who served as an interim head coach this past season for the Tigers. Chris brings an abundance of coaching experience to Iowa Wesleyan and the women's soccer program.
Webster Women's Soccer Fifth Straight NSCAA Ethics Award

The Webster University women's soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2016 Silver Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. The Gorloks were the only team in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to qualify for the award for the second straight year.
Webster Hall of Fame To Add Five Members in 2017

Webster University and Director of Athletics, Scott Kilgallon, are pleased to announce five Gorlok greats as the newest members of its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2017 inductees include the two most prolific scorers in Webster women's soccer history, a first-team All-American pitcher, one of the top scorers in men's basketball, and a Josten's Trophy national finalist.
Pagan and Sipole Garner NSCAA Scholar All-Region Honors

Brianna Pagan and Natalie Sipole have been named to the 2016 NSCAA Scholar All-Region team. Pagan, from Webster University, picked up Second Team All-North/Central Region honors while Sipole, from Fontbonne University, was named to the Third Team.
Principia Restructures Soccer Coaching Staff

Principia College Director of Athletics Dr. Lee Ellis has announced a change in the structure of the men's and women's soccer programs. Beginning July 2017, Director of Soccer Jess Semnacher will become Head Men's Coach, and Associate Director of Soccer Meagan Fleming will take over as Head Women's Coach. Deputy Director Nicole Gervais will continue assisting both programs in her role as Associate Head Coach, but will primarily focus on the women's program.

Logan Named CoSIDA Academic All-America

Spalding University senior Alyssa Logan was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division III women’s soccer second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America, marking the first time Spalding has had someone receive the prestigious award.
Record Fall For SLIAC All-Academic Team Honors

For the second straight fall the SLIAC will recognize a record amount of student-athltes on the conference All-Academic Team. This fall a total of 181 student-athletes earned SLIAC All-Academic Team honors, surpassing last year's record high of 168.
#8 Chicago Eliminates Webster

The Webster University women's soccer team lost in the first round of the NCAA III Championships, 6-0, to the University of Chicago, on November 12 in Chicago, IL. The #8 ranked nationally Maroon, with one of the top defenses in the country, was able to stifle the Gorloks' potent offense to secure the win.
