Webster to Induct Three into Gorloks' Hall of Fame

ST. LOUIS - The Webster Athletics Hall of Fame will add three new members to its ranks as Ashley (Everett) Zeier, Laura (Stuhlman) Peiter, and Jeanne (Zes) Gilbert have been voted in for 2012. The three former Gorlok greats will be inducted on February 4, 2012, at Grant Gymnasium, during halftime of the men's basketball game.

Ashley (Everett) Zeier was a four-year member of the women's soccer team on defense. Zeier was a member of the inaugural women's soccer squad (1999-2002) that won three St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) championships and made three NCAA appearances. She received the Webster Athletics Presidential Award in 2002. Zeier has been the only women's soccer player named captain all four years and was the first to be named SLIAC All-Conference all four years as well. She was named to the NSCAA Central All-Region and Academic All-Region in 2001 and 2002. Zeier graduated in 2002 with a B.A. in psychology.

Laura (Stuhlman) Peiter was a four-year member of the women's softball and basketball teams. Softball won SLIAC championships and made NCAA appearances all four of her years (1998-2001). She was a member of the basketball team that made its first appearance in the NCAAs, advancing all the way to the Sweet Sixteen (2001-02). Peiter's name is dotted all over the Webster career all-time high record books in both sports. Upon graduation with a B.A. in communications, she worked seven years for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, completing a M.A. in communications as well. She currently works in the Career Center at the University of Missouri.

Jeanne (Zes) Gilbert played for the Webster women's softball team for three seasons (1998-2000), winning SLIAC championships, and advancing to the NCAAs all three. Gilbert was the Webster Athlete of the Year for 1998-99 and still dominates the softball pitching record books. She is second in wins and shutouts, third in strikeouts and earned run average, and first in winning percentage. Gilbert completed a B.A. in Education in 2005, and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 2005.

Former players, coaches, and other individuals who made significant contributions to the program, are eligible for selection to the Webster University Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place during halftime of the men's basketball game on February 4, vs. Eureka College (IL). That game, scheduled to start at 3;00 p.m., will be the second half of a twin bill that will feature the Webster women taking on Eureka at 1:00 p.m.
