Blue Jays Partner With Owls in Support of Toys For Tots

The Westminster College men's basketball team partnered with crosstown William Woods University to collect toys and stuffed animals for Toys for Tots to support the Fulton community.  Fans were encouraged to bring a toy to get in the game for free, and the two teams held a teddy bear toss at halftime. The Blue Jays and Owls played in their first non-exhibition game in men's basketball. The Owls would win it, 79-47.

Westminster hung around in the early stages of the game, but the Owls would pull away 15-5, then 24-8 with around 10 minutes left in the first half. The Blue Jays would battle back and head into the intermission down 36-23.

It would be much of the same in the second half with Williams Woods winning the game with a final score of 79-47.

Jaxon Althaus (Oak Grove, Mo. / Oak Grove) had a team-high 11 points and 6 rebounds. Brennan Jeffries (Jefferson City, Mo. / Jefferson City) had 9 points in the game, going 2-3 from behind the three-point line.

Westminster would struggle on offense shooting 26% from the field, going 16 for 60. The Owls would shoot 46% from the field, going 29-62. The Owls would also win the rebounding battle hauling 53 rebounds in the game to the Jays 35.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Thursday, December 1st for their home opener when they take on Central Christian College of the Bible at 7:30 PM from inside the Historic Gym.
