Webster Men's Golf Finishes 25th at NCAA Championships; Scott Just Misses Cut

Howey-in-th-Hills, Fla. - The Webster University men's golf team finished 25th in the 2012 NCAA III Championships, on May 16, shooting a 312 second round score, and a 626 total.  The Gorloks missed the team cut to advance to the finals.  Kyler Scott (JR, Culver Academy, IN) shot a 149 total and just missed the cut for the finals for individuals.  The event was held at Howey-in-the-Hills Golf Course in Florida.

Webster improved on its 29th place finish in 2011.  This was the team's third appearance in the Championships in the last five years.  Scott shot a 77 for the second round and missed the cut for the finals by the thinnest of margins...one stroke.  Tanner Raab (FR, Zionsville, IN) was low for Webster in the second round, shooting a tournament team-low 71.  Matt Vanderbeek (FR, Churchill County HS, NV) finished second overall for the Gorloks, shooting a 157 total.

The Gorloks end another successful season that saw them win a second straight SLIAC Championship and Scott winning SLIAC Player of the Year honors.  Raab was named the SLIAC Newcomer of the Year and Head Coach Andrew Belsky was named the Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his tenure at Webster.  Scott, Raab, and Steve Kinsman (JR, Archbold HS, OH) were all named SLIAC First Team All-Conference.
