Panthers First in Classic

The Greenville University men's cross country team placed first at the GU Classic this weekend, besting a field of 11 programs including runners from five other schools from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Greenville picked up 38 team points, edging out Heartland Community College by three points. 

Greenville had the top two runners in the field and three in the top nine. Gianni Estrada cross the finish line first with a time of 26:16 and was followed by Kaleb Carlson with a mark of 26:38. Joe Gomez was 9th overall with a 27:09 time while Collin Kessinger and Garrett Johnson followed with 12th and 14th place finishes. Jeremiah Perry, 21st, and Lukas Baird, 24th, picked up the final scoring points for the Panthers. 

Webster University took 5th as a team with 130 points and was led by Nathan Freyling's 10th place showing with a time of 27:17. Kaelin Triggs finished 15th with a time of 27:35. 

Fontbonne University finished with 338 points, coming in 10th. KeYonn Hall-Baker led the team with a time of 35:30. 

Blackburn College finished with 346 points as Quentin Smith led the team with a time of 33:32, finishing in 89th place. 

Eureka College had three runners compete as individuals in the race with Javier Garcia pacing the team with a 31:32, good for 69th place. Westminster also sent individuals for the race with Lane Martin leading the way with a time of 31:44.
