SLIAC Announces 2011 Softball Award Winners

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has announced the All-Conference Teams and award winners for the 2011 softball season. Blackburn College's Grace Young claimed Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season, Webster University's Ashley Meagher was named Pitcher of the Year, while Fontbonne University's Marissa Simon received Newcomer of the Year.

Blackburn head coach, Ryan Sackett, and Principia College head coach, Ken Leavoy, were named Co-Coaches of the Year. Sackett led his squad to a 19-20 record overall and 8-8 in the SLIAC, while Leavoy guided his team to eight wins overall and three wins in conference play in only the program's second season.

Principia College also was selected to receive the Sportsmanship Award.
