Schultz Wraps Up Nationals Appearance

Danielle Schultz, from Webster University, wrapped up her appearance at the 2021 NCAA Division III National Championship with a 245th place showing at the meet. Schultz is the first women's cross country runner from Webster to compete at nationals. 

The junior finished the 6K race with a time of 23:32, the 11th fastest time in a 6K race in program history. Schultz started quickly, sitting 120th overall with a time of 3:48 through the first 1,000 meters. She fell back as the race progressed and sat 249th with a time of 11:30 halfway through the meet. She dropped as low as 254th but battled back and was able to move up to 245th at the end of the race.

Schultz is the 6th runner from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to qualify for nationals and the first since 2012. She joins previous runners Steph Hood (Principia College), Amy Aleshire (Principia College), Maggie Conley (Maryville University), Aubree Schreder (Greenville University), and Casey Powell (Principia College). 

Johns Hopkins won the team championship, its second consecutive title, with a score of 130. Individually it was Loras College runner Kassie Rosenbum with a winning time of 20:11.
