Principia Track and Field Teams Honored for Classroom Success

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Tuesday the 2013 Division III All-Academic Track & Field teams. Principia College's men's team was second in the nation while the Principia women's team was listed for their efforts as well. In addition Conrad Bollinger was honored for his individual efforts.

The Principia men's team finished with a cumulative team GPA of 3.521.Principia was behind only Cal-Tech who had a score of 3.53, and Principia just beat out MIT, who had a cumulative GPA of 3.52.  The Principia women's track and field team was among 148 institutions to earn the honor, finishing with a cumulative GPA of 3.37. A total of 148 institutions for the women's teams and a total of 80 institutions for the men's teams earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher.

As well as the All-Academic teams, the USTFCCCA also announce the Scholar Athlete of the Year award and the individual award recipients!  Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year, a total of 232 men from 92 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom.  Principia's Conrad Bollinger made the list with a cumulative GPA of 3.72! 

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
