Zander Appointed Iowa Wesleyan ActingAthletic Director

Iowa Wesleyan University has named Derek Zander as Acting Athletic Director. Zander, Assistant Athletic Director and NCAA Compliance Officer for the University, has been appointed Acting Athletic Director through July 31, 2017.  Zander also serves as head baseball coach at Iowa Wesleyan University.   

"I'd like to congratulate Coach Zander on his appointment. Having him in the Acting Athletic Director role puts Tiger Athletics in a position to continue executing its vision and forward momentum in the immediate future," said Dr. Wesley Brooks, Vice President for Student Development. "The partnership between Coach Zander and Assistant Athletic Director BJ Wagy, and our entire coaching staff will allow Tiger Athletics to continue to thrive moving forward."

"I am grateful to President Titus, Dr. Brooks and everyone at Iowa Wesleyan for the opportunity to lead the athletic department in the coming months as we search for a new Athletic Director. Tiger Athletics has played an important part in my life, and I look forward to helping continue the University's vision for the department," said Zander.

Dr. Brooks also stated, "The passion and commitment Coach Zander has for student success, Tiger Athletics, and Iowa Wesleyan University will deepen the current exciting environment all student-athletes, coaches, community partners, and friends of the University are a part of."

A 2011 graduate of Iowa Wesleyan University, Zander earned his master's degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching from Concordia University-Irvine in 2015. He and his wife, Anna, reside in Mount Pleasant, Iowa with their son, Mason.
