Westminster Sophomore Leads The Nation From Long Range

Fulton, Mo. - Westminster College's Skylar Tolson has been a part of back-to-back St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball championship teams in his first two years of college basketball. Now, Tolson is an NCAA Division III national statistical champion.

Tolson, a sophomore guard from Columbia, Missouri (Rock Bridge High School), led the nation in three-point field goal percentage during the 2010-11 season, shooting 50 percent (69-of-138) from long range. Tolson shared the honor with junior Tom Gisler of Northwestern College (Minn.), who shot 50 percent (73-of-146).

While Tolson is the first Westminster men's basketball player to lead the nation statistically, he is not the only Blue Jay to lead the nation statistically. Justin Peery and Scott Pingel lead the nation statistically as the most prolific passing and catching football combination in the late 1990s.
