Webster Men Overpowered by Vikings, 76-51, in NCAA First Round

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Webster University men's basketball team was often outsized this season, but had not faced a front line as imposing as Augustana's pair of 6'9 forwards, as the Vikings downed the Gorloks, 76-51.

Webster, playing its first NCAA Division III Tournament game since 2002, lost at Rock Island, IL, on March 4. Facing a 45-25 deficit, the Gorloks kept pace with the Vikings in the second half, but couldn't dig significantly into the imposing lead.

Drew Moore (SR, Northwest HS) had 16 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Gorloks. Freshman Hollis Edwards came off the bench to score nine, shooting four of five from the field.

The Gorloks bid farewell to five seniors, three of them starters. Brad Cookson (Seckman HS), Nick Jones (Heritage HS, IL), Robby Meeh (Lindbergh HS), Drew Moore (Northwest HS), and Scott Restoff (Mater Dei HS, IL) played their final game in the blue and gold.

Webster finished the season 21-7.
