Greenville's Neece, Webster's Savage Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-American Honors

ST. LOUIS - Greenville College's Stefan Neece and Webster University's Will Savage were named 2010 ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Americans. The SLIAC pair was awarded two of only 15 First Team spots awarded nationally, and it marks the first time since 1986 that the SLIAC has had a First Team ABCA All-American.

Neece, a senior first baseman, is the first Greenville baseball player to earn All-American honors. He led the Panthers this season with a .487 batting average, 67 RBI, 57 hits, 51 runs scored, 19 home runs and 11 doubles. He also posted a 1.085 slugging percentage, .663 on-base percentage, 11 stolen bases and a .991 fielding percentage with 327 putouts and 22 assists in 352 total chances. Along with being named the 2010 SLIAC Player of the Year, Neece earned 2010 ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Central Region honors and 2010 First Team All-SLIAC honors.

Savage, a senior pitcher, becomes the first Webster baseball player to be chosen to the first team and just the third in the program's history to be named an All-American. He had a record-breaking season for the Gorloks, recording the lowest ERA (1.52), tying for most wins (9), and finishing with the second highest strikeout total (72).  He posted a 9-0 record on the mound, including six complete games and three shutouts. Savage was also named to the 2010 ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region First Team and was a First Team All-SLIAC selection.

Previous SLIAC baseball players to earn ABCA/Rawlings All-American honors include Webster's Alex Raetzloff (3rd Team) and Brett Mueller (3rd Team) in 2008, Fontbonne's Adam Friedrich (2nd Team) in 2001 and MacMurray's Brad Burger (First Team) in 1986.
