SLIAC Senior Send-Off: Golf

SLIAC Senior Send-Off: Golf

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference would like to send our best wishes to its 2019-20 senior golf players. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, all spring seasons were canceled and while the NCAA has announced that seniors will not lose a year of eligibility due to the cancelation, not all will return. With that in mind, we salute the 2019-20 seniors.

The 2019-21 SLIAC men's and women's golf senior class includes 27 student-athletes that accounted for 6 Player of the Week awards, 1 Player of the Year, 1 Newcomer of the Year, and 9 All-Conference selections. The class also included five All-Sportsmanship winners and players that made conference championship history.

Zac Ciesla, from Webster, was First Team All-Conference twice during his career while winning two of the conference's top individual awards. He was named SLIAC Men's Golf Newcomer of the Year in 2017 when he placed 5th at the SLIAC Championship. In 2019, Ciesla took home Player of the Year honors after shooting a three-round score of 215. He also picked up four Player of the Week awards during his Gorlok career.

His teammate Cole Pickett earned All-Conference honors twice including First Team honors in 2019 while also being named an All-Sportsmanship recipient and winning one Player of the Week.

Lauren Anderson represented MacMurray College women's golf as a Second Team All-Conference selection in 2017 and 2018. Allie Massner, from Iowa Wesleyan University, was an All-Sportsmanship award winner in 2018.

Julie Echikson, from Grinnell College, captured a Player of the Week honor this past fall when she had a career-best performance with a two-round score of 152. Haley Hoekstra, from Monmouth College, and Brooke Metzger, from Illinois College, earned Second Team All-Conference honors this past fall. Knox College's Samantha Nichols was also a Second Team All-Conference selection while becoming the first SLIAC women's golf player to card a hole-in-one during a conference championship round.

Baylee Hughes (Blackburn College), Madi Peyton (Illinois College), and Kaitlyn Brown (MacMurray College) were all also honored this past fall with the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship award.

We wish the best of luck to every student-athlete as they move forward and salute them for their efforts in competition and the classroom over the years!
