SLIAC Game of the Week: Greenville at Eureka (Nov. 28, 2017)
The first SLIAC Game of the Week for the 2017-18 basketball season features what will be a high scoring affair between Greenville University and Eureka College. Greenville is averaging 121.6 points per game this year, third most in all of NCAA Division III, while Eureka College is averaging 99.6 points per game and led by the league's leading scorer Shea Feehan (33.4 points per game).....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College

The Blackburn men's basketball team is off to a 2-1 start this season, coming off a 66-57 win over Elmhurst on Tuesday night. The Beavers were led by Nigel Ferrell's 14 points while Duncan King added 10 points and five assists. Blackburn begins conference play on Wednesday night with a home game against long-time rival MacMurray. 

Eureka College

Last weekend Shea Feehan broke the previous single-game Eureka scoring record of 47 points set by Bob Strickland against Rose-Hulman on Dec. 7, 1957. Feehan was 14-for-26 from the field, 4-for-12 from 3-point range and 17-for-20 from the free throw line. His effort Sunday also surpassed his previous career high of 40 set in an 89-86 win over Monmouth on Nov. 27, 2016.

Fontbonne University

Greg Ferry and Corey Schmidt were each named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Third Team. Ferry totaled 7 goals and 1 assist this season, leading the conference with three game-winning goals from his backline position. Schmidt tallied 3 goals and 9 assists, leading the conference in helpers. The defensive pairing helped the Griffins defense record eight shutouts this year and helped Fontbonne win the regular season conference title.

Greenville University

The Greenville women's basketball team has won three straight to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Panthers are coming off a 102-56 win over Hannibal-LaGrange on Monday. Greenville opens up conference play on Wednesday night in a rematch of the 2017 SLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament Championship game against Eureka.

Iowa Wesleyan University

Brock Butler reached a career milestone last weekend, scoring his 1,000th career point. Butler accomplished the feat on Saturday against Nebraska Wesleyan University. He finished the game with 17 points, giving him 1,009 during his Tiger career. He is now in 26th place on the all-time scoring list in program history.

MacMurray College

The MacMurray men's basketball team sits at 1-2 as they begin conference play this week with games against Blackburn and Eureka. The Highlanders lone win this season has been against Central Christian and they are coming off a loss to #2 ranked Augustana. 

Principia College

Keller, a freshman forward, burst onto the scene in his first year with Principia College to earn Second Team All-Region honors. He finished with 18 goals and 2 assists for 38 total points; leading the conference in both goals and total points. He also netted three game-winning goals and had three multi-goal games including two four-goal games while setting a new school record for goals in a season.

Spalding University

Hilliard, a sophomore forward, picked up Third Team honors while leading the Spalding University attack. Hilliard finished with 15 goals and 7 assists for 37 total points this season. He netted 10 goals during conference play and had four multi-goal games during the fall. 

Webster University

Justin Schmidt picked up 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Second Team honors for Webster. Schmidt, a sophomore defender, finished the season with 1 goal and 1 assist while being part of the Gorlok defense which recorded eight shutouts including a conference-best five shutouts in conference play. Schmidt was also named the 2017 SLIAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Westminster College

Senior women's soccer player Paige Townsend was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Central Region team. Townsend, a senior from Nixa, Mo., capped her four-year Blue Jay career with a 19 goal and 9 assist season this past fall. She led all SLIAC players in scoring, netting 11 of her goals during conference play.
