Gorloks #22 in Final Bushnell Ranking

Webster University Men's Golf closed out the shortened 2019-20 season ranked 22nd in the final Bushnell Golfweek Division III Coaches' Poll that is compiled by the Golf Coaches Association of America and was released this past Friday. 

In the final poll of the shortened 2019-20 season, the Gorloks earned 90 points and jumped from No. 23 to No. 22 and was two points behind No. 21 Denison (92 points) and 17 points in front of No. 23 Saint John's (Minn.) (73 points). 

Webster, who was ranked 19th in the final Division III Golfstat.com team rankings, placed in the Top 5 in six of its seven events this season, including winning the team title at the season-opening Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic. In addition to the first-place finish at the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic, the Gorloks also placed second at the both the Carthage Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament and the Rhodes Fall Classic in the fall season and was second in its final tournament of this season at the BSN Sports Dataw Island Invitational. 
 
The Gorloks, who are expected to return its entire 2019-20 line-up next year, completed the 2019-20 season with a team scoring average of 298.89, which is nearly one stroke lower than the old single-season record of 299.97 that was set by the 2018-19 team that won its third consecutive St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship and appeared in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships for the fourth time in the last six years.

In this year's final poll, defending NCAA Division III National Champion Illinois Wesleyan finishes atop the poll as they earned 450 points and 18 first-place votes. Huntingdon finishes second with 426 points and Emory places third as they earned 417 points. The other two teams in the final Top 5 are Carnegie Mellon and Hampden-Sydney at No. 4 and 5 respectively. 

St. Thomas (Minn.) is sixth as they earned 354 points, while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is seventh as they earned 341 points and Methodist is eighth as they earned 313 points. Gustavus Adolphus is ninth as they earned 282 points and Wisconsin-Eau Claire rounds out the Top 10 at No. 10 as they earned 279 points. 

The next 10 of the poll begins with Guilford (259 points) at No. 11 and they are followed by Southwestern (Texas) (245 points) at No. 12 and New York University (228 points) is 13th. Wittenberg (225 points) is 14th, while Babson (178 points) is 15th, RPI (174 points) is 16th and Redlands (148 points) is 17th. Oglethorpe and Washington & Lee each earned 112 points to sit tied for 18th and Aurora (102 points) are ranked 20th. 

After Denison, Webster and Saint John's, Piedmont (64 points) and Williams (19 points) are ranked 24th and 25th respectively.
