Webster's Arias Selected for Costa Rica U20 World Cup Squad

ST. LOUIS - Webster University women's soccer goalkeeper, Maria Arias, has been selected for the roster of the Costa Rica U-20 National Team. The team will be competing in the FIFA 2010 U-20 Women's World Cup, from July 13 through August 1, in host country Germany. Arias is a sophomore from San Jose, Costa Rica.

Arias is one of three goalkeepers chosen to the Costa Rica roster. After participating in soccer in high school at the Lincoln School in Costa Rica, she joined the Gorloks as a freshman in Fall 2009. Arias was 2-0 in eight games played, and recorded two shutouts while posting a 1.14 goals against average for the season.

The Costa Ricans first round match will be against Germany on July 13 in Bochum. They will also face France and Colombia in their group. The final is on August 1 in Bielefeld, Germany.
