Anderson Medals, Rantanen & Sharp Follow With All-American Honors

CJ Anderson capped off the completion of the 2023 Indoor Track and Field season by becoming the first-ever SLIAC athlete to earn a medal at the NCAA Division III Championships. Anderson took silver in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.75 seconds, a lifetime best and the second-fastest time in conference history. With the finish, Anderson earns All-America honors.

Joining him with All-America honors is his teammate Carson Rantanen. Rantanen placed 6th at this year's championship with a time of 6.80 seconds. Anderson and Rantanen become just the 2nd and 3rd individuals in conference history to earn Indoor All-America honors.

Cayden Sharp becomes just the 2nd SLIAC athlete to earn Indoor All-America honors. Sharp competed in the pentathlon and totaled 3490 points, a career-high, and SLIAC record. Sharp's best showing in the five events was in the high jump, where she finished 3rd. She also finished 4th in both the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump.

The only other SLIAC athletes to previously earn All-America honors were Jacob Ridenhour from Webster University in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash and Daisha Reece from Webster University in the long jump, both in the 2020 season.

Sam Blaskowski from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.71 seconds while Elizabeth Barre from Carnegie Mellon University won the pentathlon with a score of 3837.
