Meyer and Summers Named Preseason All-America

A pair of players from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have been selected to the D3baseball.com 2020 Preseason All-America team. Eric Meyer, from Spalding University, and Luke Summers, from Fontbonne University, are two of the players that were recognized by the organization as among the best players in NCAA Division III.

Meyer, a senior shortstop, was selected Second Team All-American. He is the reigning SLIAC Player of the Year and was named First Team All-Region in 2019. The infielder from Frankfort, Ky., finished in the top five in the conference in numerous offensive categories; hitting .380 with 10 home runs and 42 runs batted in. Meyer and the Golden Eagles open their 2020 season on Saturday, February 15th against preseason No. 15 ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater at 12:00 PM EST in Louisville, Ky. at Derby City Field.

Summers, a senior pitcher, is the two-time defending SLIAC Pitcher of the Year. The St. Louis, Mo. native finished with a 11-2 record last spring, recording a 0.67 earned-run average and 127 strikeouts in 94 innings pitched while tallying eight complete games. In his three seasons with the Griffins, he is 22-8 with a 2.42 earned-run average and 250 strikeouts in 223 innings. The Griffins 2020 season gets underway on February 14th when they'll travel to Belhaven for a three-game set.

Fontbonne University and Spalding University will face each other on March 21st in a doubleheader in Louisville, Ky.
