Gorloks and Golden Eagles to Meet For Championship

The championship game of the 2021 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament is set with the top two seeds advancing to the final game. #1 seed Webster University moved on with a 2-1 win over #5 seed Fontbonne University while #2 seed Spalding University advanced with a 4-1 victory over #3 seed Greenville University. The championship game will take place on Saturday, November 6 at 1 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in St. Louis, Mo.

#1 Webster defeated #5 Fontbonne, 2-1 BOX SCORE
Despite outshooting Fontbonne 22-10 in the game, the Gorloks needed a late goal to secure its 2-1 win over the Griffins. A scoreless first-half that featured just 10 combined shots opened up in the second half with Webster outshooting Fontbonne 15-7 in the next 45. The Gorloks intensified pressure paid off just eight minutes into the half when Hunter Olaso drew a penalty kick and converted his chance. Aamahn Murvin made it 2-0 at the 88:39 mark off a pass from Mark Moore. Fontbonne did not go quietly, with Tanner Harris striking with just five seconds left on the clock to take away the shutout. Matt Coffey made four saves in the win for Webster while Fontbonne's Dominic Haggard stopped 12 shots.

#2 Spalding defeated #3 Greenville, 4-1 BOX SCORE
Spalding wasted little time in getting the action started, hosting a SLIAC semifinal game against Greenville. The Golden Eagles' Chadrack Mulondani pounced on a loose ball that had gotten away from the Panther keeper and put the ball in the net just 6-minutes into the opening whistle. He extended the lead with another goal 23-minutes later, burying the ball off a corner kick. Ethan Eckert made it 3-0 in favor of the home team midway through the second half off a pass from Jacob Bass. Greenville was able to get on the board when Napoleon Urquidi converted a penalty kick at the 75-minute mark. However, Mulondani answered right back, completing the hat trick just two minutes later. Greenville outshot Spalding 13-10 in the game with Golden Eagle Danny Hernandez stopping six shots and Greenville's Pedro Vebber with seven.

Webster leads the all-time series against Spalding 9-5 with Webster sweeping the regular-season series this fall by the scores of 2-0 and 3-0.
