SLIAC Men's Cross Country Regional Recap

Teams from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference closed out their 2019 men's season this weekend by competing in the regional qualifiers. Spalding University competed in the Great Lakes Regional hosted by Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Golden Eagles finished 27th in the field of 37 teams with an average pace of 26:52. Will Brittian led Spalding with a time of 25:56, finishing in 97th. Dane Thomas followed with a 111th place finish, crossing the line in 26:05. 

A total of five SLIAC teams competed in the Great Lakes Regional which was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Winneconne, Wis. Greenville University was the highest team finisher from the conference, coming in 22nd place with an average time of 27:33. They were led by Dylan Goodyear, who placed 66th, with a time of 26:20. Collin Kessinger followed with a time of 27:13. 

Webster University was just behind the Panthers, coming in 23rd with an average time of 27:58. Nathan Freyling (79th) and Cameron Sakuma (86th) both had top 100 finishes with Freyling leading the way with a time of 26:36 and Sakuma finishing in 26:47.

Principia College finished 33rd in the team scoring with an average time of 29:42. Abe Ott was the first Panther to cross the finish line, running a 27:38 and finishing in 134th place. 

Iowa Wesleyan University had two runners compete with Nathaniel Townsend recording a 29:38 and coming in 204th. Samuel Moore was the lone representative for Westminster College, coming in 145th with a time of 27:44.
