SLIAC Players of the Week - September 16

Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
 

Kaleb Keller, Principia College

Kaleb Keller, a junior, nabs his first weekly honor this season. Keller notched a pair of game-winning goals last week helping the Panthers get above .500 on the season. He tallied the only goal of the game in a 1-0 overtime win over Harris-Stowe, scoring in the 99th minute of the game. Keller followed with a goal and assist in a 2-0 win over Earlham. He buried the game-winning goal against Earlham in the 68th minute and then helped extend the lead by setting up the Panthers' second goal. On the week Keller finished with 5 points on 2 goals and 1 assist while getting off 19 shots. 

     
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
   

Kaden Keller, Principia College

Kaden Keller is the SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Panthers pick up a pair of shutout wins. Keller, a senior, led a Panther defense that allowed no goals and just 12 total shots in two games last week. He also added a goal in his team's 2-0 win over Earlham.

     
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week 
 

Sam Amezcua, Fontbonne University

Sam Amezcua picks up the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor after helping the Griffins go 1-0-1 last week. Amezcua, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., scored her first goal as a Griffin in her team's 7-0 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy. She added two assists in that same game. Later in the week, she chipped in another assist, setting up the only Griffin goal of the game in a 1-1 tie against Hendrix. For the week Amezcua finished with 1 goal and 3 assists for 5 total points. 

     
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
   

Marjory Coates, Greenville University

Coates, a senior from Decatur, Ill., stood out in net for Greenville last week in picking up SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors. Coates played all 180-minutes in net for the Panthers, recording a pair of shutout wins. She totaled 10 saves in the victory over Rose-Hulman and added two more in a win over Harris-Stowe. For the week Coates made 12 saves and finished with a perfect save percentage.

 

     
Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week 
 

Kamryn Flesner, MacMurray College

Flesner grabs her second Player of the Week award after averaging 3.76 kills and 4.6 points per set over six matches for the Highlanders last week. Flesner reached double-digit kills in five of the six matches, hitting .232 on the week. Twice she reached at least 20 kills in a match with a high of 25 against Concordia-Chicago. Flesner added 70 digs on the week with a high of 21 against Anderson, averaging 2.80 per set on the week. She also recorded a school-record 8 aces against Knox.

     
Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week 
 

Kristen Farrah, Webster University

Kristen Farrah secures her second weekly honor this season after averaging an outstanding 10.46 digs per set over four matches last week for the Gorloks. Farrah, a junior from St. Charles, Mo., recorded at least 23 digs in all four matches including a high of 55 in a four-set win over Wartburg. That mark is the highest in Division III this season and a school record for a four-set match.

     
Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week 
 

Will Brittain, Spalding University

Brittain, a junior from Lexington, Ky., takes home the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for September 16. Brittain placed 8th individually at the Berea Invitational. He finished the 8K course in a time of 27:28 and helped the Golden Eagles to a 4th place finish in the field of 10 teams. 

     
Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week 
 

Kalleigh Linthicum, Webster University

Linthicum picks up her second weekly award of the 2019 season after a 5th place finish at the Les Duke Invitational. Running in her first 6K race of the season Linthicum completed the race in a time of 23:59, finishing 5th in a field of 136 runners. The junior from Lake St. Louis, Mo. has now been the top Gorlok finisher in both of the team's races this season.

  • Anna Finch, Greenville University (Volleyball) Totaled 37 kills and 14 blocks in four matches for Greenville.
  • Hannah Hathaway, Principia College (Women's Soccer) Recorded 18 saves in two games for the Panthers last week including 11 against Earlham.
  • Ashley Kistaitis, Westminster College (Volleyball) Put together back-to-back double-double matches for the Blue Jays, totaling 30 kills and 26 digs in the two outings.
  • Jared McPeek, Greenville University (Men's Soccer) Scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Illinois Wesleyan. 
  • Hunter Olaso, Webster University (Men's Soccer) Recorded a pair of assists last week, one in each of the Gorloks wins.
  • Kate Ponder, Westminster College (Women's Soccer) Played a role in three of her team's four goals over two games last week; totaling 2 goals and 1 assist.
  • Carissa Smith, MacMurray College (Volleyball) Totaled 39 digs in a win over Knox, averaging 6.08 digs per set in six matches.
