Gorloks Take Home All-Sports Trophy

Webster University can add another SLIAC All-Sports Trophy to its collection after taking home the 2023 award. Webster totaled 101.5 points this year, with points being accumulated based on each athletic team's finish during the regular season or championship. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Webster has won the award and the 20th time in SLIAC history. Webster took home four first-place finishes this year: men's soccer, women's basketball, men's golf, and baseball. They also added another six second-place finishes and tied for second in a seventh sport. Overall the Gorloks finished in the top half of the league in all 14 sports they competed in with its lowest finish being 4th place. 

Greenville University totaled 88 points, finishing in 2nd place. The Panthers took home seven championships this season including sweeping indoor and outdoor men's and women's track and field as well as men's and women's cross country. Volleyball joined the list of title winners with its regular season title. Men's Soccer and Women's Basketball added to the point total with second-place showings. 

Coming in 3rd was Fontbonne University with 80 points. Women's Soccer picked up first-place points with men's basketball tying for first place. Volleyball grabbed seven points thanks to a second-place finish while softball tied for second and baseball finished in third. 

Spalding University was 4th with 63 points thanks to a couple of strong seasons from the men's and women's golf teams as well a first-place finish in softball and second-place finish in baseball. In fact, the Golden Eagles totaled nearly half of their points during the spring sports season.

With 56.5 total points, Principia College finished 5th in the standings. A string of 3rd place finishes pushed the Panthers up the rankings. They finished 3rd in eight different sports including tying for third in men's basketball.

Eureka College was next with 54.5 points this year. Eureka's women's cross country team finished 2nd at the championship, totaling seven points. Men's Basketball tied for 3rd place while the indoor women's track and field team was 4th. Westminster finished with 53.5 points. Their best finish came from its women's basketball team's 3rd-place finish. They also tied for 3rd place in volleyball and picked up fourth-place points in women's soccer, outdoor women's track and field, and baseball. 

Blackburn College totaled 29 points with women's cross country totaling the most points by a Beaver program with its 5th place finish. 

Points for the All-Sports trophy are based on the regular season standings except for cross country, golf, tennis, and track and field which are determined based on the order of finish at the conference championship.
