SLIAC Trio Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Three players from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference earned 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District honors this spring. Being recognized were from Spalding University, Garrett Wilson; from Webster University, Matt Mulhearn; and from Westminster College, Ryan Clavin. Mulhearn and Wilson are repeat honorees while Clavin is being honored for the first time.

Wilson, an outfielder for Spalding University, is making his third straight appearance on the Academic All-District team. He is majoring in Business Administration/Accounting and holds a 3.87 grade-point average. Wilson is a two-time All-Conference performer, the 2018 SLIAC Player of the Year, and was named All-American in 2018 after leading NCAA Division III in hits. 

Mulhearn, a pitcher for Webster University, repeats as a All-District selection after carrying a 3.79 grade-point average while pursuing his MBA. He was an All-American last year, ranking second in Division III with 12 wins. Mulhearn holds single-season program records for wins and innings pitched and is tied for third in career wins, fourth in innings pitched and strikeouts, and sixth in earned-run average. 

Clavin, an outfielder from Westminster College, is a Business Management/Business Communication major with a grade-point average of 3.87. He is a two-time All-Conference and All-Region selection and the 2018 SLIAC Newcomer of the Year. He ranks fourth in program history in home runs and the career leader in slugging percentage. 
 
The Academic All-District Team presented by CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances both athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated by their respective school's SID, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and a starter or key contributor with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Webster's representatives are District 5 selections from Division III institutions comprised from the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
