Webster Men's & Women's Tennis Earn ITA All-Academic Team Awards

ST. LOUIS - The Webster University men's and women's tennis teams earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team awards for 2010. In addition to the team awards, 12 individuals earned ITA Scholar/Athlete awards for 2010.

The mens squad was one of 37 NCAA III teams nationally recognized while the women were one of 79. Webster had the distinction of being one of only 23 colleges and universities in the NCAA III who had both teams recognized.

Both teams had six individuals earn Scholar/Athlete awards. For the men's team:

Allison Tungate, SO, Flora HS, Illinois
Paige Tungate SO, Flora HS, Illinois
Hannah Wojahn, JR, Cannon Falls HS, Minnesota

Webster had the only teams in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honored. The two tennis teams brings Webster's total of teams recognized nationally in 2009-10 for academics to five, joining women's volleyball, and men's and women's soccer.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to teams with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale). To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a gpa of at least 3.5 for the current academic year, and have been enrolled for at least 2 semesters.
