Southworth Hired As Principia Cross Country Head Coach

The Principia College Athletics Department is excited to announce the hire of Sedge Southworth as the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach.

Southworth is a former cross country and track and field athlete for Principia College. A few years after graduating, he served for two seasons as the College's Assistant Cross Country Coach in 2004 and 2005. Southworth later worked as a high school assistant track and field coach at two different locations. He has also served as an admissions counselor for Principia College, a National Leadership Council class leader, and as Director of the 100 Elk Outdoor Center at Adventure Unlimited, where he excelled at developing his staff and creating opportunities for character growth.

Southworth's passion for character development and long-distance running, combined with his love for Christian Science, makes him a perfect fit for Principia College. Interim Athletic Director Brian Gavaletz comments, "I am so happy to welcome Sedge back to Principia. His love for and demonstration of Christian Science, along with his work ethic and infectious personality, will undoubtedly enrich the lives of athletes on the team, as well as all others he comes in contact with."

Southworth will be moving to Principia from Loveland, Colorado, and will be joined by his wife, Laura.
