DeGroot Named MacMurray Cross Country Coach

MacMurray College has selected Jeremy DeGroot as the new head coach of the revived men's and women's cross country teams. DeGroot brings years of coaching experience to the College as well as organizing cross country meets and training athletes of all ages.

"I am thrilled to add Jeremy as our head cross country coach," Athletic Director Justin Fuhler said. "He possesses a wealth of knowledge in his sport and is very well respected. I have no doubt that he will do a tremendous job and is the right person to get our cross country program off the ground."

Prior to coming to MacMurray, Degroot has previously served as the head cross country and track and field coach at Turner Junior High School in Jacksonville for more than ten years. After taking time to finish his Master's Degree in Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he is excited to be at MacMurray and to be a part of reviving the cross country program.

"I was ecstatic to hear the news of the restart of the cross-country program at MacMurray and I am looking forward to this fall," said Degroot. "It is very special for me to be on the front end of this program and I know our incoming talent is also ready to be a part of it."
DeGroot received his bachelor's in elementary education from Illinois College in 2002, and his Masters in Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2015.
