Blackburn College is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. James Chandler as its Women’s Basketball Interim Head Coach for the 2017-18 season. Chandler recently retired after 25 years as teacher, coach, administrator and superintendent of schools in Missouri.

Thompson, who was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 after leading the Red Devils to a league title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, will remain in his role as EC Director of Athletics.

The Eureka College women's basketball team saw one of its best seasons in program history come to an end Friday night in the opening round of its first NCAA Tournament, a 97-58 defeat to #2/4 and defending national champion Thomas More at Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Ky. The decision ended Eureka's season with a 20-8 record.

The Red Devil women's basketball team put their names into Eureka College history when they won the institution's first ever St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, defeating Greenville College 82-74 in front of their home crowd.

For just the second time in conference history there is a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Year. This year's award goes to two seniors that etched their names in their school's record books. The SLIAC Co-Players of the Year are Emmie Haring, from Fontbonne University and Andrea Zalis, from Westminster College.
