Gorloks Back-to-Back Commissioner's Cup Winners

Webster University captured its second straight Commissioner's Cup for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, an award that is presented when a school wins both the league's All-Sports Trophy and All-Sportsmanship Trophy. This is the second time in conference history that Webster has received special recognition and just the third time in conference history that any school has won the award. Westminster College won the inaugural Commissioner's Cup back in the 2015-16 academic year.

For the 20th time in program history, Webster University takes home the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's All-Sports Trophy for having the most overall successful athletics program during the academic year. Webster finished with 110.5 total points in 2021-22 to win its fifth consecutive trophy. They also totaled 14.5 points in the Sportsmanship standings; becoming the first program to receive the SLIAC Commissioner's Cup multiple times. In the All-Sports standings, Webster took home five titles this year; winning Women's Cross Country and Men's Golf Championships as well as finishing first in men's soccer, Women's Basketball, and Baseball. The Gorloks also had six second-place showings and finished with just two of 17 sports finishing outside the top three in the conference. They also picked up 14.5 points in the Sportsmanship standings, receiving votes in seven of the league's 17 conference-sponsored sports. The Gorloks won the Sportsmanship award in Men's Basketball, Men's Outdoor Track and Field, and Men's Tennis, and shared the award in Women's Outdoor Track and Field.

Greenville University finished with 99 points, coming in second place for the fifth consecutive year. The Panthers actually had the most first-place finishes in the conference with eight; taking home titles in Men's Cross Country, Indoor Men's Track and Field, Indoor Women's Track and Field, Outdoor Men's Track and Field, Outdoor Women's Track and Field, Men's Tennis, and Women's Tennis. The Panthers took 3rd in the Sportsmanship standings with 11 total points.

Fontbonne University came in third place with 77 points, moving up one spot from last year's standings. The Griffins won regular-season titles in Women's Soccer, Men's Basketball, and Softball and finished second in Baseball.

Spalding University had 71 total points, increasing their total by 17 points from a year ago. The Golden Eagles made a big jump thanks to a third-place finish in Women's Golf and finishing second in Men's Soccer. They also had seven other top-four finishes this season.

Westminster College picked up 66.5 points this year with Women's Golf securing nine points with its fifth-place finish. The Blue Jays also had a second-place finish in Women's Basketball and a third-place showing in Volleyball.

Principia College finished with 60 points, an increase of 15 points from last year's total. The Panthers had second-place finishes in Men's and Women's Tennis as well as Indoor Men's Track and Field and finished third in both Men's and Women's Cross Country. Principia finished 4th in the Sportsmanship standings with 10 total points.

A second-place regular-season finish by the Eureka men's basketball team helped them to total 32.5 points this year. The Red Devils placed second in the Sportsmanship award standings with 13.5 points, picking up first-place showings in Men's Soccer and Women's Cross Country.

Blackburn finished with 28.5 points with their highest showing coming from a third-place regular-season finish in men's basketball. They also picked up five points from men's soccer, which had its best regular season since 2003.

Points for the All-Sports trophy are based on the regular season standings except for cross country, golf, tennis, and track and field which are determined based on the order of finish at the conference championship.
