Greenville Extends Reign

The Greenville University men's track and field team extended its reign with a fourth consecutive SLIAC Indoor Track and Field Championship. The Panthers compiled 283.50 points on Saturday behind 12 gold medals. Dylan Webster led all athletes by capturing three gold medals on the day, just ahead of teammate Matt Binion. 

Webster won the long jump, high jump, and triple jump; becoming the first athlete to sweep the jumping events at the conference championship. He set a championship mark in the high jump with a height of 6'7.5". Binion meanwhile took home gold in both the weight throw and shot put. Fellow Panthers Wesley Kile (pole vault), Kaleb Carlson (1 Mile), Chase LaTouche (400 meters), CJ Anderson (60-meter dash), and Gianni Estrada (3000 meters) all picked up gold as well. Kile set a new championship mark in the pole vault with a height of 13'11" while LaTouch had a record-setting run, finishing in 50.63 seconds. Estrada also picked up a record run, finishing in 8:40.48, nearly 26 full seconds faster than the previous mark. 

Webster University finished in 2nd place at the championship with 84.50 points. Armond Williams took home gold in the 60-meter hurdles and added silver in the high jump while Elijah Perez won the 200-meter dash and finished third in the 60-meter dash. Landon Garland (pole vault) and Austin Merrit (60-meter hurdles) added bronze medals for the Gorloks. Cameron Sakuma picked up silver in the 3000-meter run and Kaelin Triggs won bronze in the 800 meters. 

Principia totaled 42 points with Nana Koranteng winning the 800-meter run. Goodluck Ajeh won bronze in the triple jump 

Spalding University picked up 22 points with six of those coming from Wyatt Frye's third-place finish in the 1 Mile Run.

Fontbonne University was 5th with 17 points. Tyree Simms led the way with his silver in the shot put. 

Westminster College collected 6 points thanks to a third-place finish by Elijah Teal in the 200-meter dash.

Blackburn College tied for 6th with 6 points thanks to the relay team of Tate Kunzeman, Hayden Fox, Will Teig, and Locke Hord finishing fourth in the 4x400 relay.

Eureka College finished with 1 point on the day when Anthony Delira finished sixth in the 3000-meter run.
