Balance Among Top Award Winners in Men's Track and Field

Although Greenville University led the way with a commanding 26 All-Conference performers, the 2023 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field All-Conference team had balance among its top individual award winners. For the first time in conference history, the four awards had athletes from four different schools.

Dylan Webster headlines this year's All-Conference award winners, picking up his second straight Indoor Field Athlete of the Year award. He is the first to repeat as Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and just the second in conference history to repeat as Athlete of the Year; Jacob Ridenhour was a repeat Track Athlete of the Year. Webster won gold in three events on Saturday; long jump, high jump, and triple jump while also finishing second in the 60-meter hurdles and pole vault. He breaks his own conference record for most medals at one championship with five and ties the record for most gold medals at one meet; joining Corey Carter (Principia, 2020) and Jacob Ridenhour (Webster, 2020).

The 2023 Track Athlete of the Year is Elijah Perez, from Webster University. This marks the third time in four years that the Gorloks have had the Track Athlete of the Year, with Perez joining the aforementioned Ridenhour. Perez won gold in the 200-meter dash and finished 3rd in the 60-meter dash.

This year's Field Newcomer of the Year is Fontbonne University's, Tyree Simms. Simms placed 2nd in the shot put with a mark of 38'9". He is the first Griffin to win an individual conference award in program history and picks up just the fourth medal all-time by a Griffin.

Nana Koranteng was selected as the Track Newcomer of the Year. The freshman from Principia College won the 800-meter run and anchored his team in the 4x400-meter relay. Koranteng's time of 1:58 in the 800 was the second fastest in championship history and he becomes the first Panther to win a top indoor individual award.

Greenville led all teams with 26 individual All-Conference performers, not including their two gold medal teams in relay events. Webster had eight medalists plus a silver-winning 4x400 relay team. Principia was represented with two All-Conference selections (Nana Koranteng and Goodluck Ajeh) as well as its 4x400 meter and Distance Medley relay teams.

Wyatt Frye was the lone individual All-Conference performer for Spalding, joined by his Distance Medley relay members. Westminster and Fontbonne both had one All-Conference performer each: Elijah Teal, from Westminster, and Tyree Simms, from Fontbonne.
