SLIAC Quartet Headed To Division III Nationals

A quartet of athletes from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is headed to the 2018 NCAA Division III Track and Field Outdoor Championships. Corey Carter, John Mangold, Greg Mitchell, and Andrew Sharp will represent the SLIAC later this week in La Crosse, Wisconsin at the national championship meet. 

Carter, a freshman from Principia College, qualified in two events. His time of 10.64 seconds in the 100-meter dash this spring seeded him 19th while his time of 21.51 seconds in the 200-meter dash put him in an identical 19th slot. 

Andrew Sharp, from Greenville University, will be looking to become just the 3rd individual from the SLIAC to capture a national championship in an event. Sharp had the top qualifying time among all D3 runners this spring in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:49.79. 

Also hailing from Greenville University and qualifying is John Mangold. Mangold will be the 14th seed in the 1500-meter race prelims with a qualifying time of 3:51.30. 

Greg Mitchell is the final qualifier for the 2018 championships, doing so in the high jump. Mitchell will be seeded 15th in the event with a qualifying height of 6'8" this spring.

The 2018 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships will take place May 24-26 at the Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin. For more information go to ncaa.com
