Alongi Sets New Tigers And SLIAC Scoring Record

Last night's win for the Iowa Wesleyan women's soccer team was not only a big feat for the team but an equally large feat for Grace Alongi (FR/Rock Island, IL).  The win was the third win of the season for the Tigers, the most in a season since 2012.  While the win was impressive for the team, it is Alongi's performance in the win and throughout the season that has inked her as one of the top players in IW women's soccer history.

Grace scored seven goals and recorded fourteen points against the Red Devils last night, which breaks the previous St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference of six goals and thirteen points scored in a game.  Alongi's seven goals last night also give her a season total of sixteen goals scored.  The previous IW women's soccer single-season record for goals was fifteen, which was set in 2011 by Erin Lucido.

With the sixteen goals on the season, Alongi finds herself tied for second place in the SLIAC leaderboards this season. She is currently fourth in the conference in points scored with thirty-two points so far.  Alongi also leads the SLIAC with ninety-eight shots were taken.

Iowa Wesleyan has one game remaining on their schedule for 2017.  They will take on MacMurray College at 1 pm on Saturday, October 28th in Jacksonville, Illinois.
